Why laser engraving is the right tool for leather

A laser gives us tolerances measured in fractions of a millimeter. That's what lets us pull off tight script, signature reproductions, and intricate team logos that other methods just can't hold cleanly on textured leather.

Heat stamps push leather around. Embroidery snags. Paint chips. A correctly tuned laser does none of those things — it just darkens the exact lines you specify and stops.

Where on the glove laser engraving looks best

The thumb, pinky, palm strap, back of hand, and the leather above the wrist strap are all popular placements. We'll suggest a placement based on your design's shape and the model of glove — and you'll see a digital proof before any laser hits the leather.

Brands and leather types we engrave on

Wilson Pro Stock and SuperSkin, Rawlings Heart of the Hide and Color Sync, Mizuno Pro / Global Elite Japanese leather, 44 Pro custom leather, Marucci, Nokona kangaroo, and most boutique builders. Different leathers darken slightly differently — we know the quirks of each.

Frequently asked

How does laser engraving work on a baseball glove?

A focused fiber laser darkens the top layer of the leather along the precise lines of your design. The result is a deep, crisp mark that's part of the leather itself — no ink, no stamp, no stitching.

Will the laser weaken the leather?

No. We dial laser power and depth specifically for glove leather. Only the surface is affected — the structural fibers underneath are untouched, so the glove breaks in and plays exactly as designed.

Can a laser engrave color, or just outlines?

The laser itself burns a single tone (the natural darkened leather color). For color, we hand-fill the engraved channels with leather-grade ink — that's our $70 Color Filled tier.

Do you laser engrave new gloves before they're broken in?

Yes — many customers send us a brand new glove specifically so the engraving is done before the leather darkens. It's actually one of the best times to engrave.
